John — Next month, March For Our Lives will celebrate five years since the founding of our youth-led movement after survivors of the Parkland school shooting came together to lead one of the largest youth-led marches in history.
This week, as we mourned and remembered the victims from Parkland exactly five years ago, our country witnessed another deadly shooting at Michigan State University that never should have happened — yet another terrifying reminder of America’s ongoing gun violence crisis.
It’s time to take to the streets once again so the spineless leaders who enable this bloodshed know we’re still here–and we’re not going anywhere until the job is done. To commemorate the anniversary of our movement’s founding, we are fighting in five states for five packages of legislation that will ban assault weapons, close background check loopholes, require safe storage of firearms, and other measures. These policies will save lives and drastically reduce the number of young people shot and killed yearly.
We’ll be hosting major rallies and lobby days in state capitols around the nation to demand action throughout the week of March 24, including Pennsylvania, Michigan, Florida, California, and Texas.
We’re calling on state legislators to step up and lead the way for gun safety reform. Will you chip in to fuel our efforts to advance bold, transformative gun safety policies and support our critical work at the state level?
Five years since our first march, we’ve secured over 250 gun laws and mobilized millions of young people to the polls — and we are just getting started.
Our message is simple: Young people refuse to die waiting for change. We will continue to fight for our lives. And we intend to win.
Thanks for supporting our work each and every day.
In solidarity,
March For Our Lives
