Emergency Situation Unfolding - 200 Nicaraguan Survivors

This past weekend, more than 200 Nicaraguan political prisoners and survivors of torture arrived in our community. As a trusted community partner, NVFS’ Multicultural Center crisis response team was called on for support by the Center for Victims of Torture and provided over 70 hours of mental health services to these resilient survivors over the weekend.

Leora Hudak of the Center for Victims of Torture recognized NVFS' response: "The team from NVFS who provided assistance... were immediately responsive, mobilized quickly, and uniquely met the needs of this group of arrivals. They were a source of calm and stability during a chaotic time, and they provided the entire response team on site with a wealth of knowledge and expertise in the unique needs of this population. We at CVT could not have done it without them."

These survivors need urgent medical and mental health care, shelter, food, legal representation and more. They need the support of their community, their neighbors. Join us in rapidly meeting their need for services and donate <[link removed]> to the emergency fund today.

The Bowl-a-thon for NVFS' SERVE Campus is Back!

We're excited to announce that, after a two-year hiatus, NVFS’ Strikes for Stronger Families Bowl-a-thon <[link removed]> will return, in-person, on Saturday, March 18th!

For 30 years, the community has rallied for an afternoon of fun in support of our SERVE campus in Manassas. The support of our event sponsors, donors, teams, and volunteers ensures that Greater Prince William families and individuals in crisis can access the shelter, nutrition, prescription access, childcare and stabilizing support they need to achieve well-being and to build a better future.

We hope you will join us to help our neighbors not just survive, but thrive! Register today. <[link removed]>

Volunteer Spotlight: Team Macerich Tysons Corner

This month we welcomed back volunteers from Team Macerich Tysons Corner. We first worked with Team Macerich during our Gifting for Families drive. Their dedication to our community and willingness to do the work needed to make a difference made us super excited to have them join our NVFS Clock Tower Thrift Shop <[link removed]> team.

Volunteers are vital to our thrift store operations, and their support is always needed. The individuals and groups that come out to help do everything from accepting donations, to sorting the items, tagging them, putting them on the sales floor, and even helping customers. Ultimately, their help translates to more quality items on the floor, more sales, and thus more funds going back to NVFS to help our neighbors throughout Northern Virginia on their journey to well-being.

Thank you Team Macerich for choosing to partner with NVFS to give back to our community!
