Last week, I went to the Florida Capitol to testify against the permitless carry bill introduced by Gov. DeSantis and the Florida House Speaker.

Under this dangerous legislation, state lawmakers would get rid of basic safety training and permit requirements, making the process easier and quicker for Floridians to purchase guns and commit acts of violence against others.

Let’s call it what it is: deadly carry.

Allowing more concealed firearms in a public space does NOT make us safer. Deadly carry just allows for firearms to be used dangerously and irresponsibly.

During my testimony, I called out our leaders for caring more about emboldening extremists and saving their political careers than keeping us safe.

At a time when the number of mass shootings surpasses days in 2023, the last thing we need is more guns flooding our communities.

Together, we must fight with everything we have to stop this reckless bill and protect our communities from pro-gun laws in Florida and beyond.
