Friend,

Throughout my time in the U.S. Senate, I have fought to craft smart defense policy to keep us safe at home and support military families while reducing the risk of unnecessary war.

The past few years have shown us that the Executive Branch, regardless of which party is in control, will too often continue to stretch their war powers and get involved in conflicts around the world, without the consent, collaboration, and oversight of the people’s representatives in Congress.

It’s time for that to change. I’m working with leaders from across the political spectrum to call for an end to outdated war authorizations -- namely, the Gulf and Iraq war authorizations -- that let the Executive Branch take military action without consulting with Congress.

Add your name today to endorse my bipartisan legislation to end the unnecessary and outdated Authorizations for Use of Military Force.

I’m working with Democrat and Republican colleagues to get this done -- from Senators Tammy Duckworth and Dick Durbin to Mike Lee and Todd Young -- because Americans from both ends of the political spectrum are ready to put a stop to endless war.

Congress must take seriously our solemn responsibility to determine when we send our sons and daughters into war -- not just let the Executive Branch make unilateral decisions of life and death.

This is a serious issue that deserves bipartisan collaboration and working across the branches of government. That’s exactly what I’m doing -- but I need to know if you’re with me in the fight.

Add your name today if you agree it’s time to end endless war.

Thanks so much,

Tim Kaine
