Dear friends,
It's the middle of February, but the weather outside lately feels like the height of spring. Something else is heating up, too: the 2023 City Council primaries.

That's right: thanks to redistricting ([link removed]) , there are important City Council primaries this June. And BYD plans to be at the center of it all.

Join BYD ([link removed]) at Minnie's Bar in Sunset Park at 7pm on March 2nd as we consider endorsements in Council primaries across the borough!
We'll hear from candidates and discuss our role in these six districts:
* CD33 (Brooklyn Heights, Downtown Brooklyn, Greenpoint, Williamsburg)
* CD35 (Fort Greene, Clinton Hill, Crown Heights, Prospect Heights, Bed-Stuy)
* CD36 (Bed-Stuy, Crown Heights)
* CD37 (Cypress Hills, Bushwick, Brownsville, East New York)
* CD43 (Sunset Park, Dyker Heights, Bensonhurst)
* CD47 (Bay Ridge, Coney Island, Seagate)

We'll also be voting for some BYD Board positions, including our Regional Vice Presidents, Secretary and Treasurer. If you're interested in applying for a BYD leadership position, apply here ([link removed]) by 9pm on February 23rd! And we'll consider amendments to our club constitution ([link removed]) ; if you'd like to propose changes to the way BYD operates, email us (mailto:[email protected]) your proposal by the same deadline: 9pm on Feburary 23rd.

This meeting is a big one for us: it's where our work shaping elections really starts. If you want to be a part of the action, don't miss it!

In Other News...
BYD is headed to Caucus Weekend!

We'll be in Albany on Saturday for the 52nd Annual Legislative Conference ([link removed]) (aka Caucus Weekend), and we're excited to be co-sponsoring an event on efforts to protect the right to vote. If you'll be at the conference, join us, Assembly Member Latrice Walker and several other organizations to discuss voter protection efforts!
We've got lots of work to do; let's get to it!
