Learn more about what my office has been up to this week Dear john, This week, President Biden returned to the Capitol to deliver his State of the Union speech. I was proud that his address included a call to expand the $35 cap on insulin that now applies to millions of Medicare beneficiaries. I am proud of the work I have done with Senator Warnock to lower insulin costs for Medicare beneficiaries, and I will continue the fight to expand these cost savings to every American who is dependent on this lifesaving drug. This week, we also observed Gun Violence Survivors Week. Regrettably, my colleagues and I had to convene a press conference to speak out against the dangerous ruling from the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals which puts weapons back into the hands of individuals with a domestic violence restraining order. We must move forward to save lives, not turn the clock back. You can view my remarks from the event by clicking below. Pictured above: a screenshot from the live stream of Wednesday's press conference This week concluded my weeks long push to collect Valentines for veterans in our community. I stopped by Chesney Elementary, one of the participating schools in this program, to say hello and thank the students for creating such amazing cards. In total, my office collected over 3,000 cards to be distributed to local veterans next week. Thank you to every school, student, and individual who participated--your kindness will bring joy to a veteran next week as we celebrate Valentine's Day!
