The theme of this year's State of the Union was supposed to be one of unity and cooperation, but President Biden managed to make it about partisan division instead.   Partisan Division Sowed in the State of the Union Address The theme of this year's State of the Union was supposed to be one of unity and cooperation, but President Biden managed to make it about partisan division instead. In just the two years under the Biden Administration, our nation is struggling from record-high inflation, increased energy and food costs, rising crime, a crisis at our southern border, fentanyl plaguing our communities, and the Chinese Communist Party infiltrating our farmland, our culture, and our skies. The American people are sick and tired of the partisan division that plagues our nation, and the State of the Union address should have been an opportunity to assuage those feelings. Unfortunately, our president instead used it as an opportunity to point fingers and deepen the partisan divide. I hear from many Central Washingtonians who are deeply concerned with how the Biden Administration has been handling things, and I am committed to putting us back on the right path towards a better future. Watch More     We Must Hold the CCP Accountable for Impeding on Our Sovereignty Last week, news outlets across the nation reported on the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) spy balloon that was occupying our airspace. This violation of our sovereignty should never be tolerated, yet President Biden failed to act for an entire week and let indecision paralyze him. Only after the spy balloon completed its mission was it shot down. This gave the CCP ample time to surveil American citizens. Indeed, a senior State Department official said yesterday that the balloon “was capable of conducting signals intelligence collection operations” and was part of a fleet that had flown over “more than 40 countries across five continents.” This Congress, I was appointed to the House Select Committee on the CCP, where we will investigate the continuous aggression from the CCP. I will continue to lead with tough policies to safeguard our national security, defend our farmland, rebuild our national food supply chains, stand up for human rights, and protect American sovereignty. We had a very productive conversation about the importance and economic impact of the paper and packaging industries in Washington which employ thousands of Central Washingtonians and help propel them and their families into the middle class. This thriving industry is key to our success, and I am proud to serve as Co-Chair of the Paper & Packaging Caucus. I am committed to bringing forth meaningful and sustainable policy solutions that will continue to allow this industry to thrive in the 118th Congress.
