And there’s a new cloud hanging over the Supreme Court, as it has come to light that Chief Justice Roberts’ wife, Jane Sullivan Roberts, has made millions of dollars recruiting lawyers to firms — some of which take cases that are argued before the Supreme Court.

Maybe there’s no conflict of interest with Chief Justice Roberts’ wife — we just don’t know. And that’s the problem. There’s no objective code of ethics or reporting requirements in place that would allow the public to have confidence in the court.
