This newsletter will track legislation, share news, and bring you all the latest about Greater Georgia. Legislative Priorities The 2023 Session is underway and Leadership has outlined their legislative priorities. You can expect the economy, education, healthcare, and public safety at the forefront. Below, we've detailed their priorities and included links for you to learn more: ECONOMY/BUDGET Because of conservative leadership, we ended 2022 with a $6.6 BILLION surplus- that means this year's proposed budget allows for more of YOUR money in YOUR wallet. HIGHLIGHTS $2,000 Pay increases for state employees Restructuring & expanding the HOPE scholarship $1B in state income tax rebates $1.1B In property tax rebates for Georgia homeowners (LEARN MORE) EDUCATION Conservatives know that to raise future leaders, we must equip them with the best education. It's why the General Assembly is focused on improving the literacy rate, supporting teachers and parents, and providing funding where needed due to learning loss brought on by the pandemic. HIGHLIGHTS Raising teacher pay by $2,000 Expanding school choice Addressing the declining literacy rate Learning loss grants HEALTHCARE Just as conservatives believe a zip code shouldn't define where your child goes to school, we believe your zip code shouldn't determine your quality of healthcare. This year our leaders are working to expand tele-health to rural Georgia. In addition, there's also a pro-life angle - expanding assistance to underprivileged expectant mothers. HIGHLIGHTS Expanding Telehealth Temporary Assistance to Needy Families expansion to include expectant mothers PUBLIC SAFETY With the onslaught of crime brought on by COVID lockdowns, liberal DA's, and riots, our conservative leaders know that we must address this problem at a state level. It's why they are working to better support law enforcement and equip them with the tools they need to keep our communities safe. HIGHLIGHTS $50,000 School safety grants $2,000 Pay increase for law enforcement KNOW YOUR STATE SENATE & HOUSE LEADERS Lieutenant Governor Burt Jones Lt. We look forward to seeing what conservative victories he champions this year and beyond. Our Chairwoman, Kelly Loeffler, was excited to witness the Inauguration of our state's leaders. WASHINGTON WOES The national security crisis that occurred last week is beyond comprehension. In case you missed it, the Chinese government sent an intelligence balloon drifting across the United States. The balloon drifted for seven whole days until it reached the Atlantic ocean off the coast of South Carolina where it was shot down. As of now, we have yet to learn why the balloon was sent and what intelligence it gathered. However, experts warn that the information gathered is likely extensive. To learn more about the balloon timeline, click here.
