John, I have a few minutes between meetings, so I wanted to reach out with my thoughts on President Biden's State of the Union address last night.

As I sat in the House chamber listening to our president lay out his vision to build a better future for our country, I couldn't help but think about all of the GOP lawmakers who are doing everything in their power to stand in the way of that vision.

If we're going to restore reproductive rights nationwide, continue rebuilding our economy, end America's gun violence epidemic, bolster voting rights, establish paid leave and so much more, we cannot let Republicans deliver Senate control to Mitch McConnell next year. John, the harsh reality is, our entire Democratic agenda hinges on keeping the Senate blue.

But Republicans only need to win two more seats to retake the majority, and Nate Silver’s FiveThirtyEight is already reporting that they have a clear path to do just that. If Democrats are going to build up enough resources to defeat the GOP and their megadonor allies, we need grassroots supporters like you to invest in this fight right here, right now.

That's why I'm coming to you personally, John: Will you donate $5 (or whatever you can spare) to defend our narrow Democratic Senate majority and move our bold agenda forward?

Experts at The Washington Post are saying that the fight for Senate control is shaping up to be brutal for Democrats, so we can't take a single seat for granted. But here's the problem:

Here in New York, Republicans just had their best election cycle in two decades — winning enough seats to deliver the House majority to the GOP. Now, they’re targeting my seat as a key pickup opportunity to flip the Senate next.

I don't take a single cent from corporate PACs, which means I'm relying entirely on grassroots supporters like you to step up right away and show Mitch McConnell and his allies that this seat isn't up for grabs. With Senate control on the line, can I please count on you to rush $5 right now to help me defeat the GOP in New York, protect our Democratic Senate majority and continue fighting for the issues you care about most?
