John,

If you don’t know me, allow me to introduce myself. I’m Laphonza Butler, and I’ve dedicated my life to empowering women, helping them find their voice, and using it to make meaningful change.

That’s why I’m proud to be the president of EMILY’s List -- an organization dedicated to electing more Democratic pro-choice women to national, state, and local office.

On Friday, we announced our enthusiastic endorsement of Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s reelection campaign. She not only has dedicated her career to public service and is a fierce advocate for Chicagoans, she’s been on the front lines of the fight for reproductive rights. She enacted critical abortion protection measures during her first term, and we are confident that she will continue this work when reelected.

As you know, Election Day in Chicago is just around the corner and Lori’s reelection campaign could use your help. If you’re in a position to do so, please consider rushing a contribution here.

Women’s rights remain under attack across the country. But Mayor Lightfoot’s administration has worked tirelessly to protect the rights of Chicagoans and reduce the barriers to accessing abortion and other vital reproductive health care services.

In response to the endorsement, Mayor Lightfoot said: “As long as I am Mayor, Chicago will remain a safe haven for abortion because we simply cannot afford to turn back the clock on women’s lives.”

That is why I’m so proud to join the chorus of women leaders and women’s organizations supporting Mayor Lightfoot -- including U.S. Sen. Tammy Duckworth and Congresswoman Robin Kelly.

Thanks for all you do.

Laphonza
