In the new session of Congress, Republicans continue to lean deeper into their "guns everywhere" messaging. Lucy McBath is counting on the support of the gun safety movement to help her continue to lead the fight for reform in the Capitol. Will you chip in a donation today? [[link removed]]

John,

I wrote to you last week expressing my frustration over House Republicans wearing AR-15 lapels. As infuriating as it was to see my colleagues make light of our gun violence epidemic, there’s much more at stake than symbolic gestures.

We have the opportunity to save lives by passing legislation that prevents further acts of gun violence. I’m leading the fight to ban assault weapons and enact “red flag” laws that would make real strides toward ending this epidemic – but as this display by Republicans showed, we’ve got a long way to go to push them through the House of Representatives.

John, will you chip in a donation to my campaign to help prepare me for the fights ahead? [[link removed]] I’m in this for the long haul, and your contribution will help my team continue to build bipartisan support for these efforts.

DONATE NOW [[link removed]] It can seem hopeless when NRA-backed members of Congress are so dismissive of gun violence, but let’s remember that nothing happens overnight. These policy battles can take years to resolve. That’s why it’s so crucial that our gun safety movement continues to speak loud and clear about the destruction that’s happening daily in our streets.

Can you chip in today to show your support for my leadership in Congress on this critical issue? I promise that I won’t stop beating the drum in the fight against gun violence. [[link removed]]

CHIP IN [[link removed]] Thanks for being a part of this movement,

– Lucy

John, I’m once again disgusted and ashamed by the actions of my Republican colleagues in Congress. On the heels of several mass shootings, far-right politicians have replaced their American flag lapels with AR-15 pins. Take a look at this image.

There’s a lot to unpack here. The American flag lapel worn by politicians across the political spectrum is symbolic of our duty to the American people as elected representatives. It signifies that despite our disagreements, we’re all fighting for the same nation. By replacing it with an AR-15 pin, these extremist Republicans are making a statement – that their loyalty lies with the gun lobby and far-right base that continually ignores the epidemic of gun violence that is tearing us apart.

I’m disappointed to see my colleagues lean further into the culture wars. Please sign my petition denouncing House Republicans for this divisive and disrespectful act. [[link removed]]

Of course, the AR-15 pin is also a slap in the face to all the folks who have lost loved ones in assault weapon shootings. Imagine how it feels to be someone who’s been personally impacted by gun violence – like I have – and to see your elected representative wearing a pin of the deadly weapon. Tone-deaf is an understatement.

This gesture speaks volumes about the priorities of Republicans in Congress. They spend their time concocting symbolic gestures rather than crafting policies and passing laws that actually improve the lives of Americans.

Some of us in Congress would like to do our job, and I’m demanding better from my coworkers. Please sign my petition denouncing these extremist Republicans and help me send my message. [[link removed]]
