While February kicks off Black History Month, today and every day we honor the contributions Black leaders, organizers, advocates, and changemakers have made throughout American history.

Too often, politicians overlook the disproportionate impact gun violence has on communities of color. That’s why centering Black voices in the gun violence prevention movement is essential to building a safe, just future for all.

Across the country, Black people are under attack. Lawmakers are introducing bills attacking voting rights, banning Black history from being taught in our schools, and flooding communities with weapons of war. Militarized police are brutalizing communities of color. The pathway to justice remains long and steep. So today, we celebrate the progress we've made, but tomorrow we fight on for the promise of racial justice and true freedom.
