John, Republicans
kicking Ilhan Omar off of the Foreign Affairs Committee is nothing short
of racist, Islamophobic hypocrisy. It’s also a clear attempt to silence an
outspoken critic of human rights abuses and oppressive regimes worldwide.

Let us be clear: We unequivocally stand with Ilhan and will continue to
support her as she endures hate-filled, hypocritical attacks from the GOP.
We have her back as she stands-strong in the face of these ugly attacks:

[1]Ilhan Omar: "I will continue to speak for the families who are seeking
justice around the world— whether they are displaced in refugee camps or
hiding under their bed somewhere like I was. I didn’t come to Congress to
be silent. I came to Congress to be their voice."
This vote to oust Ilhan didn’t occur in a vacuum. Republicans, mega GOP
donors, Donald Trump, and others have been going after Ilhan and other
progressive women of color for years because they speak truth to power and
aren’t afraid to go up against the political status quo to stand up for
what’s right.

Ilhan made history with her appointment to the House Foreign Affairs
Committee not just because of who she is, but what she did — challenge any
foreign policy that turns a blind eye to corruption or crime for the sake
of political interests.

Ilhan went up against the entire political establishment in DC. She
questioned war criminals and stood up for victims of violence across the
world — and she never backed down.
