John,

Committee appointments are coming out soon in the Texas Legislature. Speaker Dade Phelan has a track record of appointing Democrats to powerful leadership positions as chairs of committees, allowing them to block crucial conservative priorities. Last session he appointed 13 Democrat chairs - more than his predecessor had allowed.

This year, as in past years, the House Public Education Committee will play a key role in the passage of priority legislation to Texas Values Action including parental rights and empowerment legislation, protecting students from explicit materials in schools and school libraries, banning sexualization of public school students in instructional materials, and school choice legislation.

Last Texas Legislative session, in 2021, Democrat Texas House member Harold Dutton was the chairman of the House Public Education committee and his lack of support for common sense bills, like keeping boys from competing in girls sports, made it difficult if not almost impossible to get legislation passed on this issue. In fact, it wasn’t until a third (3rd) special session was called that this bill actually moved out of committee.

Chairman Dutton also gave a hearing last session to a Democrat bill that would have put a radical LGBT sexual orientation and gender identity (SOGI) policy into state law for public schools. This is unacceptable. We can’t have this type of problem for the current Texas legislative session in such a key committee.

We need you to encourage Speaker Phelan to do the right thing and appoint a conservative who supports these critical issues while there's still time!

As you know, Democrats' worldviews have progressively moved leftward toward socialism and secular humanism while conservative principles have remained unwavering.  We cannot afford to put the protection of Texas public schoolchildren or parental rights in jeopardy!

We are running out of time.  Committee appointments in the Texas House will be made any day.  Please use the button below to send a message to Speaker Phelan, urging him to apppoint a conservative to the Texas House Public Education Committee. You can edit the pre-populated message to make it more unique:
