For too long, Virginia’s neighbors in Washington, D.C. have been denied their civil rights and subjected to taxation without proper representation.

So last week, I re-introduced a bill to grant D.C. statehood and extend real representation to its citizens. It’s long past time to get this done.

The 700,000+ residents of the District of Columbia pay federal taxes, but they don’t have a single voting member looking out for their best interests in the House of Representatives or Senate.

That’s just not right.
