Breaking news, John: In a new video, Paul Vallas — one of Chuy’s opponents in the race for Chicago Mayor — says he opposes abortion and views himself as a Republican.

This isn’t exactly surprising — Vallas has a history of accepting contributions from GOP donors. But this new video makes it clearer than ever: Vallas should not be anywhere near the mayor’s office.

Chicagoans deserve a mayor who is a champion for reproductive rights, not a conservative politician who doesn’t believe women should have the fundamental right to make their own choices about their health.

Our city can’t afford to elect an anti-abortion Republican like Paul Vallas. Unfortunately, though, he’s got a very real chance to win this race. A recent poll showed him surging, and he’s all over the airwaves with TV ads.
