Team,

This is a HUGE victory!

I have fought passionately for years in Congress to protect Minnesota’s pristine Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. I fought Trump. I fought the Chilean mining company Antofagasta. I fought the profiteers who were willing to poison our precious BWCA.

But behind the scenes, I was working with some fantastic advocates and environmental groups and the Biden-Harris administration to protect our BWCA.

Last week, President Biden took the historic step to protect 225,000 acres in the Rainy River Watershed, which means the BWCA will be protected from toxic mining!

This 20-year withdrawal from mining will protect the BWCA for all Americans. Yes, Republican extremists will continue to battle us, but now we have some breathing room.

Let me be clear: our work is not over until our nation’s most popular wilderness is permanently protected.

We need Congressional action as bold as our wilderness is breathtaking. That’s why my bill, the Boundary Waters Wilderness Protection and Pollution Prevention Act, permanently prohibits dangerous sulfide-ore mining in the BWCA’s watershed.

Team, please join me, and together, we’ll pass this legislation and get the job done. Pitch in $10, $25, $50, or whatever works for you to permanently protect the Boundary Waters!

Thank you, President Biden and Vice President Harris!

Thank you, Secretary Haaland and Secretary Vilsack!

Thank you, Minnesota advocates!

Thank you to the tens of thousands of Americans here in Minnesota and across the country who stood with me and never gave up the fight!

This is our victory!
