Welcome to another edition of FT Now! Yes, you're seeing us pop into
your inbox a little ahead of schedule this week! What can we say? We
like to keep you on your toes! Now for the news: Tate Reeves became
Mississippi's 65th governor this week. A new report tells us something
we already know: States with GOP governors are doing really well in
today's economy. States led by Democrat governors? Not so much...
Finally, the impeachment saga continues! Articles were officially
delivered to the Senate this week, meaning the trial will begin next
week and soon this whole thing will be over! One can only hope,
anyway... Read below for more!

Tate Reeves Officially Becomes 65th Governor Of Mississippi

What Happened:

Republican Tate Reeves was officially sworn in as the new Governor of
the Magnolia State on Tuesday.

Why You Should Care:

Reeves, to his credit, has some lofty goals for the state of
Mississippi: more workforce training, teacher pay raises and improved
education, an environment that makes it easy to run a business...and
that's just the beginning! Reeves also stressed in his inauguration
speech that he'll be "for all Mississippi."

What Happens Next:

We have no doubt Reeves will deliver great things for the people of
Mississippi!

Senate To Open Impeachment Trial Against President Trump

What Happened:

After much delay, the House officially delivered articles of impeachment
to the Senate this week, meaning the ball is now in the upper
chamber's...court (pun intended).

Why You Should Care:

Speaker Pelosi's delay in sending the articles to the Senate
overshadowed any argument she ever made about it being a non-partisan
and somber moment. Texas Sen. Ted Cruz called the House process a
"circus," and we're hard-pressed to argue with him...

What Happens Next:

The trial in the Senate will function much like any other courtroom
trial. Members of the House will make their case, senators will get the
chance to ask questions, and the jurors (senators) will ultimately
decide the president's fate.

States With GOP Governors Lead on Jobs, Economy Growth

What Happened:

New analysis released shows that states with Republican governors tend
to have both lower unemployment rates AND stronger economic growth.
That's what we call winning!

Why You Should Care:

The evidence that there's a clear link between Republican governors
and economic success is overwhelming. Neither voters nor companies (and
the jobs that come with them!) are enticed by high tax burdens and
costly regulations. Seems like a pretty simple concept...We don't get
why Democrat politicians don't seem to understand it, either!

What Happens Next:

Next: States with GOP leadership continue to flourish!
