You may have seen the recent news: Republican Robert Spindell, a member of the Wisconsin Elections Commission appointed by Senate Majority Leader Devin LeMahieu – who also happens to be one of the fake electors in Wisconsin that schemed to overturn the 2020 election results – was caught bragging about his grotesque and racist voter suppression efforts. After the November elections, he appallingly wrote in an email, “we can be especially proud of the City of Milwaukee casting 37,000 less votes than cast in the 2018 election with the major reduction happening in the overwhelming Black and Hispanic areas.”

It’s unconscionable that someone tasked with overseeing our elections has so blatantly worked to limit the freedom to vote of Black and Hispanic communities. Wisconsin deserves leaders who believe in the principle that everyone has an equal voice in our democracy.

Our team has been hard at work fighting against voter suppression at every turn – and that’s why we’ve signed onto this statement with All Voting Is Local Action asking for Sen. LeMahieu and Republican leadership to remove Spindell from the Elections Commission. [[link removed]]

We ground our work in community and authentic relationships, and it's through the day in and day out organizing in communities across Wisconsin that we fight back against these racist, cynical voter suppression efforts. This is just another link in a long chain of schemes by Republican leadership to make it harder for Wisconsinites to cast their votes – and specifically to disenfranchise communities of color. We know they’ll be at it again come April – with or without Robert Spindell – trying to seat a MAGA-extremist candidate on the Wisconsin State Supreme Court so they can lock in a conservative majority.

We can't outspend the deep-pocketed special interests trying to disenfranchise Wisconsin voters, but we can out-organize them.
