Friend,

It’s been a while since I was in touch to thank you for your help in my Senate re-election victory and other election victories in Maryland and around the country. Everyone worked hard and earned a brief break. We can be proud that Democrats outperformed the pundit predictions, protected our Senate majority, and held the Republicans to a tiny margin in the House of Representatives.

And we didn’t stop after that. In December the Georgia runoff secured the 51st seat for Senate Democrats. And we passed the Electoral Count Reform Act, saw the Respect for Marriage Act signed into law, and enacted an important federal budget plan for the remainder of this fiscal year. Not bad for a ‘lame duck’ session!

But there’s just no way to sugarcoat the fact that the next two years of divided government in the Congress are going to be very tough. We have already seen enough drama and chaos in the Republican-controlled House to make it clear that we have our work cut out for us. And the fact that the 2024 Presidential election cycle is about to begin makes the stakes even higher.

So, I hope you are prepared to Buckle Up and get ready for the work ahead!

As we move forward it’s important to me to know what your priorities are. It would mean a lot if you could take a moment to fill out the brief survey linked below and let me know what issues are most important to you and what’s on your mind.

As always, thank you for your commitment to protecting and advancing our democratic values.
