This past week in the House of Representatives, for the first time since May 2016, we operated with a modified open rule.
Members offered amendments, germaneness was determined, and 24 of them got votes.
Each vote took only 2 minutes. Amazing.
This was an important step towards restoring representative government. This is the direct result of work that 20 patriots put in to demand key institutional changes from Republican leadership during the House Speaker debate. These changes are a major victory for the conservative cause and for the American people.
When you fight the swamp, the swamp fights back, but that’s the only way to change the status quo in Washington. By not caving to the powers that be, we showed what can be done when we stick to our guns and hold the line on our conservative beliefs.
