Hi friend!

My name is Rita Hart and I am honored to be the next Chair of the Iowa Democratic Party. I’m excited to get started, but I wanted to drop you a quick note to introduce myself.

A few things about me:

I spent the last election cycle serving as Chair of the Clinton County Democrats and working to turn out voters and help folks find their place in this fight.

I’ve been involved in politics since I was a child, starting with watching my parents host their local Democratic (and Republican) caucuses in our house. Democrats were in the dining room and Republicans were in the living room, but everyone always ended up in the kitchen to share a laugh, and maybe a beer.

My husband Paul and I have been married for more than 40 years. We have a big family – five children and six grandchildren – who all want Democrats to succeed in this state.

And most importantly, I want to share why I’m in this for the long haul. I never thought I’d run for Chair, but I care deeply about the future of our Party and want to make sure I’m doing everything I can to help Democrats succeed.

We are at a crucial moment in our party’s history, and Iowans are counting on us to put people over politics to get things done. We can’t afford to let them down.

I’ll be honest with you, friend. The work ahead of us won’t be easy and the necessary change won’t happen overnight. But, I’m convinced we have the talent, know-how, and desire to get the job done.

When we stick together and support each other, there is nothing that Iowa Democrats can’t do. Let's do it together!
