John,

Have you heard of Bloc Party? It’s a podcast hosted by Waleed Shahid and
Amira Hassan, JD’s communications and political directors.

New episodes will be released every other Thursday, starting today, with
the first episode of season 3. We’ll also bring on more JD staff members
and surprise guests to share their insights, expertise, and perspectives
with the entire movement community — including you!

today’s episode?

Today’s episode of Bloc Party is about Kevin, the never-Kevins, the I
guess-it’s-fine-we’ll-take-him Kevins, and what we should take away from
the Right buckling down for 15 rounds before electing Kevin McMarthy as
speaker. Amira explains a history of Kevin McCarthy’s journey from
California Republican to “Young Gun” to Freedom Caucus, to losing 15
rounds of votes before becoming Speaker.

This episode also asks, what did the far-right win? And is there something
for the left bloc to learn from the Freedom Caucus’ tactics of holding the
line?

movement in this country and learning more about the work behind the
scenes, then listen to Bloc Party today!

More soon,

Team JD
