Dear Friend,

On a sheep farm in Australia, a terrified lamb is being forced onto her back and mutilated, her tail burned off with a hot knife—without any pain relief. She wails and writhes in agony as flames shoot up from her flesh.

This is that lamb's first real exposure to the cruelty of the wool industry—and just the beginning of her suffering. We're determined to stop such misery, and we need help from every single PETA member if we're to do so.

PETA has big plans that will mean more progress for lambs and other animals in 2020.

I know that with the support of enough PETA members, we can achieve them—the year that just wrapped up is proof. Together in 2019, we did the following:

  • We revealed to millions the cruelty of the wool industry through new exposés, showed for the first time the horrors endured by goats condemned to the cashmere trade, and persuaded longtime designer holdouts like Chanel and Prada to announce that they were going fur-free. Renew your membership and defend animals from the fashion industry in 2020.
  • We persuaded Pfizer and other pharmaceutical giants to stop subjecting mice and other small animals to the hideous forced swim test, pushed huge food-industry names like Hershey and Kellogg's to agree not to conduct or fund experiments, and added iconic brands like Herbal Essences to our list of more than 4,400 companies and brands that don't test on animals. Renew today and power PETA's work to stop ALL animal testing this year.
  • We reminded consumers that "vegan" is the most important food label through landmark exposés of the meat, egg, and dairy industries and fostered the explosion of new vegan options that's sweeping the country. Renew your kindness in 2020.

Despite all that we accomplished last year, we cannot rest. Every eye-opening PETA investigation, every video that exposes horrific cruelty, and every powerful rescue that ends a lifetime of abuse reveals the suffering that animals face every day.

Thank you for your inspiring commitment to making this world a more compassionate place for all sentient beings.

Kind regards,

Ingrid E. Newkirk
