Young people are doing inspiring work—getting civically engaged and standing in solidarity across communities to both help and protect one another. Our generations are the most active and most diverse in U.S. history and we are leading the fight to empower immigrant communities.

The voices of young advocates who are doing important work for the immigrants’ rights movement inspire us and demonstrate the diversity of ways in which young people are leading it. Join us in giving these young leaders well-deserved recognition by checking out the brand-new Generation Progress immigration activist profile series!

Check out our first entry featuring Sandra Avalos Ortega: an activist, mother, and Dreamer working to help other immigrants across the state of Texas.

Sandra is fighting for the rights and safety of immigrant families like hers, and wants you to join her efforts as young people rise up to defend families across the country.

The Q&A series will feature immigrants and allies from a variety of backgrounds. The series demonstrates both the reasons why and the ways in which young people are involved in the immigrants’ rights movement in their respective communities.

Their stories will give you a glimpse into their work protecting communities, serving them, and advancing immigration policies centered around human rights and dignity.

Throughout the year, we’ll be highlighting other phenomenal activists and community leaders in the immigrants’ rights movement like Sandra.

By telling stories of their experiences, sharing thoughts, and giving advice, they will give you an opportunity to see the work being done to support migrants and immigrant communities, as well as ways in which we can all get involved.
