Dear friend,

We have to stop subsidizing billionaires here in New York.

The richest residents of our state do not pay their fair share. To make matters worse, they underpay their employees. When that happens, we have to step up with services to help these workers make ends meet and provide for their families.

I am sick and tired of it and I know you are too.

That’s why I went to Park Avenue today to stand outside one of the wealthiest buildings in Manhattan and announce that I am reintroducing my bill to tax billionaires’ unrealized capital gains.

This is targeted legislation that would ensure the 120 billionaires in our state would finally pay a reasonable rate on all of their income streams.

My bill would raise $27 billion in the first year. That would go a long way towards providing supportive housing, affordable housing, and universal childcare.

These are things that all New Yorkers deserve without question. We can have them if the richest people in this state pay their fair share.

Our families raise their children, clean their houses, and take care of their elderly parents. We create their wealth by working in warehouses, cleaning their offices, and providing necessary services. Meanwhile, too many workers are underpaid and disrespected.

A better economy is one where everyone contributes equally. It’s one where working New Yorkers aren’t leaving this state because they can’t afford to buy homes.

That’s what I am fighting for every day in Albany — and I can’t do it without your support.

Billionaires have armies of lawyers and lobbyists on their side. I have you.

Will you donate $3 right now, or whatever you can afford, to make sure I have the resources I need to keep fighting for the working people of this state?

I took the fight to their doorstep today and I plan to keep it up.
Thank you for your support.

In service,
Jessica Ramos
