Jack, this situation is appalling.
The U.S. Treasury just indicated the Nation has reached it's debt limit TODAY — which means that the House GOP's threats to force a catastrophic debt default to extort cuts to the social programs millions of Americans depend on has taken on a dire urgency.
“Failure to meet the government’s obligations would cause irreparable harm to the U.S. economy, the livelihoods of all Americans and global financial stability,” the Treasury Secretary warned in her letter to Congress.
Jack, we're just going to be blunt: the GOP is ready and willing to force irreparable harm to our country's economy — to "win" a game of political brinksmanship.
But we have a chance in this moment to show that Democrats will not back down in the fight for hard-working Americans!
