Dear John,

Happy New Year from the Farm Aid family to you and yours! We have ambitious goals for 2023 [[link removed]] to expand our work to strengthen the farm and food system for everyone. We’re particularly looking forward to:

A mobilization of farmers in Washington, DC [[link removed]] from March 6–8 to call attention to the crucial role they play in our climate future;Working for a 2023 Farm Bill that is good for farmers, rural communities, our soil and water, our food, and for everyone who eats;Expanding our reach and our services to more farmers and connecting them with the tools they need to stay on the land and thrive; and more! Thank you for standing with us. Together we are making real change for family farmers and our food system.

The Farm Aid festival is known primarily for its music, but amplifying farmer voices is a major focus of our work. Our FarmYard Stage at the festival brings farmers and ranchers together with music artists to talk about the challenges and opportunities farmers and eaters face.

The 2022 FarmYard panels [[link removed]] included a discussion on mental wellness on the farm and in life; ways we can all raise our voices for policies that promote strong farmers and a healthy climate; a talk about Native agriculture, beef production and climate change; and a discussion about the ways farmers are healing the soil and our climate.

Winter evokes stews and soups for many of us, but not everyone. We asked three Farm Aid staff members to tell us about the recipes they’re drawn to come January [[link removed]]. We got a couple of soups and stews and, gasp, a salad!

What do you crave in winter? Reply to this email to let us know. Include a recipe and a brief explanation of why you picked this dish.
