John,
For six years, Justice Democrats has been on the frontlines of the movement to elect new leaders, transform the Democratic Party, and deliver meaningful policies that uplift our people and planet. And we have a winning strategy — it’s how we helped get AOC, Jamaal Bowman, Cori Bush, and Summer Lee to Congress.
Under the new Democratic leadership, the balance of power is shifting, and progressives have more numbers and more influence than ever before in recent history. The Squad represents millions of Americans who expect the Democratic Party to put people over profit and fight for us.
But our movement isn’t going anywhere, and our movement won’t be sidelined.
What we do at JD isn’t like any other progressive political organization — our work has real life impacts with every candidate we help elect to Congress. Just see what the New York Times said about us:
New York Times: “...if Mr. Jeffries is lucky enough to sit in the majority, he’ll have to start counting votes. One of the overlooked stories of the 2022 midterms was how many leftist or Squad-friendly candidates won elections. The old Justice Democrats strategy of contesting safe-blue seats is beginning to bear considerable fruit.” |
It’s no secret that progressives are building power in Congress with every cycle. But it’s not enough to get our candidates in the door. We have to make sure they have a seat at the table where it counts, and there’s power in numbers.
Our work is paying off — our candidates have become a bloc that the most powerful Democrats in the party can no longer ignore. But that doesn’t mean it’s going to be easy for us, or our candidates.
We have what it takes to go up against the establishment and win — and the establishment works relentlessly to take our candidates down. As the last line of defense for our candidates, it’s critical that we stay well-resourced 24/7, but our fundraising has been declining.
In solidarity,
Justice Democrats
