Since December 26, California has been pummeled nearly nonstop with rain
due to seven atmospheric river storm systems — triggering more than 500
mudslides, displacing over 10,000 people in flood zones, and leaving at
least 18 people dead.^1 As the storms begin to subside, early estimates
put the damage at well over $1 billion.^2

[ [link removed] ]Today we’re launching a direct relief fundraiser for two California
organizations working to help the thousands of people impacted by the
cataclysmic flooding. Can you split a $4 contribution today
to help UndocuFund Disaster Relief of Sonoma County and United Way of
Ventura County with relief efforts?

100% of your donation will directly benefit these groups.

Here’s a bit more about each organization

[ [link removed] ]UndocuFund Disaster Relief of Sonoma County assists undocumented
individuals and families who have lost their homes, wages, and/or
employment with expenses, including temporary housing, home repairs, rent,
groceries, essential household items, clean-up items, medical and dental
expenses, and funeral and burial expenses. Originally founded to assist
undocumented people through wildfires, their efforts shifted during the
onset of COVID-19 and they have been a lifeline to the undocumented
community since the storms began in December.

[ [link removed] ]United Way of Ventura County is working to assist residents of Ventura
County, where some regions reported 18 inches of rainfall in just over 24
hours. Remote parts of Ventura County had to be evacuated by helicopter,
and United Way is now working to provide food, clothing, and monetary
assistance to impacted residents.

[ [link removed] ]You can help make a major difference right now to affected
Californians by splitting a $4 contribution between these
organizations providing direct, on-the-ground relief. Can they count on
your $4 contribution today?

Our thoughts are with those who have lost their homes, livelihoods, or
loved ones during the storms. Together, we can help our communities
rebuild after climate-related disasters.

In solidarity,

Team AOC
