Washington, D.C. – I am honored to have been selected by my colleagues to serve on the powerful House Ways and Means Committee and join Chairman Smith in our shared mission to take America in a new, more empowering direction for our people, our businesses, and a stronger, more economically secure future with lower inflation and greater earning potential for our families. With Congress no longer under complete Democrat control, we have an opportunity, and a profound responsibility, to offer solutions that will: strengthen the ability of every American worker to thrive in good paying jobs that help them meet the needs of their families and save for their futures; enable American businesses to compete in a global economy while encouraging growth of critical industries here at home and with our allies, rather than under a genocidal, communist regime in China; and hold the Biden Administration accountable for the weaponization of federal agencies, including the IRS, against the interests and well-being of Americans and American businesses. In the long tradition of Texas membership on the House Ways and Means Committee that includes immediate past Chairman, Kevin Brady, and legendary Chairman, Bill Archer, I look forward to ensuring Texans are well served and have a strong voice on this vital committee to promote growth, opportunity, and more freedom for our people and our country. With this new committee assignment, North Texans can be assured we will play a pivotal role in how our nation’s tax and financial policies are directed towards economic expansion, generational wealth accumulation, and incentivizing critical business development in our country. I am humbled and grateful to have earned the unanimous support of the Texas Republican delegation and the guidance of former Chairman, Kevin Brady in seeking this important new role for the people of North Texas. On Tuesday, I met with Spirit Aerosystems, where we discussed FAA re-authorization, Aerospace Industries Association priorities, and tax issues, such as, research and development immediate expensing extension, and reinstating the EBITDA standard for business interest deductions. I also I had a very insightful meeting with Texas Department of Transportation Engineers to discuss updates on transportation projects in Texas-24. On Wednesday, I met with Exxon to take a deeper dive into oil and tax issues. Thanks for stopping by! We are excited to announce that Dallas Police Department will receive a $935,000 grant to transition to a new records management system. The grant was obtained through a bipartisan push by myself and my Democratic colleague Eddie Bernice Johnson, who retired this month. Read more about DPD’s grant here. Thanks to the Republican Majority, the People's House is now reopen. If you're planning a trip to DC, please don't hesitate to reach out to my office to schedule additional tours. Hometown Hero of the Week Our Texas-24 Hometown Hero of the Week is Anna Salton Eisen, a founding member of Congregation Beth Israel in Colleyville. As the anniversary of the heinous attack on the synagogue draws near, I want to thank you for your leadership and commitment to protecting and supporting our community. Rep.
