Austin, TX – January 10, 2023: The 88th biennial session of the Texas Legislature starts today to pass new laws and decide how to spend the state’s money for the next two years.

Jonathan Covey, Director of Policy for Texas Values said:

“We’re excited for a new session and another opportunity to fight for Texas families and advance faith, family, and freedom in the Lone Star State. We’ll be at the Capitol every single day, working to protect kids, uphold fairness in women’s sports, and advance the pro-life cause.”

Texas Values, the largest faith, family, and freedom policy organization in the state, has an office directly across from the State Capitol Building and will have staff members on-site during opening day and every day during the session.

Over 1,500 bills and resolutions have already been pre-filed by new and returning legislators, who will be sworn in shortly after a Speaker of the House is elected.

The public is invited to Faith and Family Day at the Capitol on March 13th. The event is free, however, there is an additional option for a lunch add-on. Get your tickets here.
