In the last few days, Republicans have failed ten times to elect a Speaker of the House, bringing Congress to a standstill.

This isn’t the message I was planning to send today, friend.

Earlier this week, my House colleagues and I were supposed to be sworn in, and I was hoping to write to you today to thank you for your ongoing support as I officially begin my second term serving NC-02. But in the last few days, Republicans have failed more than 10 times to elect a Speaker of the House, bringing Congress to a standstill.

Without a Speaker, my colleagues and I cannot do the job we were sent to Washington to do.

If the last few days have shown us anything, it’s that it’s going to take a lot of work for Congress to tackle the challenges we face, as we look to lower costs, protect reproductive freedom, ensure equal pay for equal work, and defend the right to vote.

That’s why I’m asking: Will you make a contribution now to help us prepare for the fights ahead?

If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:

House Democrats remain united behind Leader Hakeem Jeffries and stand ready to deliver results for the American people. I continue to urge my Republican colleagues to stop playing political games so that we can get to work.

Thanks for taking the time to read this note, and hopefully we’ll have an update soon.
