Hello, I’m Tracy, the campaign manager for Schools & Communities First.
On Friday, Governor Gavin Newsom officially unveiled his proposed budget for 2020. Although it addresses many of our state’s needs, no budget can significantly impact the school funding crisis here in California until we stand up and do OUR part.
California is currently 39th in the entire country in per pupil school funding. That means we spend less than many GOP-controlled states like Arkansas, Nebraska, and Wyoming.
Governor Newsom’s budget is a step in the right direction, but in order to deliver on our state’s promise of a good education to every Californian, we need a bold reform to our tax code to re-invest billions of dollars back into our schools and local communities.
Schools & Communities First will restore $12 billion annually for K-12 education, our communities, and vital services throughout the state by closing tax loopholes for wealthy corporations who have rigged the game to avoid paying their fair share.
That’s why it’s so important that we have your support.
Will you sign on as a supporter of Schools & Communities First?
Thank you,
-- Tracy Zeluff

The Schools & Communities First initiative reclaims $12 billion every year for California’s schools and local communities by closing commercial property tax loopholes benefiting a fraction of corporations and wealthy investors. The initiative benefits residents and small businesses by exempting homeowners and renters from any changes while implementing new tax relief for small businesses.
