Justice Democrats was there for my campaign from the very beginning. In fact, they recruited me to run for Congress in the first place. Together we took on and defeated a 31-year entrenched incumbent in New York’s 16th District.

No other organization in the progressive space recruits candidates and helps their campaigns win from day #1. Justice Democrats just announced their 2024 Candidate Recruitment and it’s crucial that they reach their $75,000 end-of-year fundraising goal before midnight tonight.

In April 2019, a New York public education advocate nominated me to run for Congress through Justice Democrats’ website. I had no insider political connections and I didn’t have hundreds of thousands of dollars to spend on Washington consultants. It is incredibly difficult for working-class people like myself to run for Congress.

Our system is designed to protect entrenched incumbents and discourage working-class people from running. That is why Justice Democrats’ work is so important.

From the very beginning, they helped me build my campaign from the ground up. From launch day to election day, Justice Democrats worked hand-in-hand with my campaign’s team to develop fundamental parts of our communications, grassroots fundraising, and field organizing operations.

I know that JD will work day and night to recruit the next generation of progressive leaders to join myself in Congress to fight for policies like a Green New Day, Medicare for All, criminal justice reform, and an economy that works for all of us.

We need more candidates who aren’t beholden to the DCCC or the corporate wing of the Democratic Party to run for office. Make a contribution to Justice Democrats to help another wave of JDs take on entrenched incumbents before their end of year deadline. There isn’t much time left.
