John,
Right now the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission is accepting public comments on the Line 3 tar sands oil pipeline. Enbridge's Line 3 pipeline is one of the largest pipeline proposals on the continent, threatening to send 760,000 barrels a day of dirty tar sands oil from Canada through the lakes and rivers of northern Minnesota and the Lake Superior watershed.
Last month, a revised environmental review for Line 3 found that the impacts of a spill in the Lake Superior watershed would be catastrophic. In less than 24 hours, oil could travel from the spill site to the St. Louis River Estuary, contaminating a critical part of the Lake Superior ecosystem that provides important habitat and helps keep Lake Superior clean.
Make your voice heard and tell Minnesota pipeline regulators to stop Line 3!
In addition to endangering the Lake Superior watershed and hundreds of other lakes and rivers, constructing Line 3 would contradict everything we know about climate science. This pipeline would have the climate impact of 50 coal fired power plants, and lock us into decades of dependence on some of the dirtiest fossil fuels.
The comment period is only open until January 16, so submit your comment today!
People on the ground in Minnesota have been fighting back against Line 3 for years - intervening in the legal process, putting their bodies on the line, and showing up in the streets. They've been defending our climate and Great Lakes, and now they're asking us to back them up. Stand up for climate and clean water by submitting your comment, which will become part of the official case record against Line 3.
Together,
