Friend, as we prepare to bring in the new year, I want to recap a bit of what was accomplished in 2022, and talk to you about our plans for 2023 and beyond.

I’m really proud of what we accomplished this year: Passing the CHIPS Act to make more chips in America, the Inflation Reduction Act to lower costs and tackle climate change, the PACT Act to provide health care to veterans exposed to toxins and burn pits, the Respect for Marriage Act to protect same-sex and interracial marriage, comprehensive gun safety legislation, and the Dr. Lorna Breen Act to improve mental and behavioral health among health care providers.

The next few years bring both challenges and opportunities. We are starting a divided Congress next week -- with a GOP-led House and an expanded Democratic majority in the Senate. Here’s what I’ll be focused on when I return to the Senate in the new year:

Expanding
affordable
health
care
for
all:
I’ll
be
pushing
hard
to
pass
my
Medicare-X
bill
--
legislation
that
will
create
a
high-quality,
low-cost
public
option
for
health
insurance.

*
Expanding
the
US
labor
market
by
creating
more
high-quality
affordable
child
care.
We
fought
for
this
in
2022
and
we’ll
keep
fighting,
because
parents
and
kids
deserve
access
to
high-quality
child
care.

*
Expanding
the
US
labor
market
by
passing
comprehensive
immigration
reform.
This
should
include
improving
our
legal
immigration
system,
enhancing
border
security,
and
protecting
Dreamers.

*
Expanding
the
US
labor
market
by
passing
my
JOBS
Act
to
allow
Pell
grants
to
be
used
for
high-quality
job
training
programs.
This
is
key
to
lowering
the
cost
of
higher
education
and
helping
Americans
access
good,
high-paying
jobs.

*
Defending
women's
reproductive
freedom.
My
bipartisan
Reproductive
Freedom
for
All
Act
will
allow
women
everywhere
to
have
the
freedom
to
make
their
own
reproductive
choices.

*
Securing
our
democracy.
I’ll
continue
to
fight
for
the
Freedom
to
Vote
Act
--
which
will
improve
access
to
the
ballot
box.

*
Providing
care
to
the
millions
of
Americans
experiencing
long
COVID.
The
pandemic
hasn’t
ended
for
far
too
many
people
who
deserve
our
support
--
they
can’t
be
left
behind.

And this is just the beginning.
