ConservAmerica

It is officially time to say goodbye to 2022. We had a good year here at ConservAmerica and we hope you did as well.

During the 117th Congress, ConservAmerica worked with the Roosevelt Conservation Caucus, led by co-chairs Sens. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), and John Thune (R -SD) and Reps. Brian Mast (R-FL) and Buddy Carter (R-GA), to pursue conservative solutions to a litany of challenges including clean air and water, next generation affordable and lower-emission energy solutions, wildlife conservation, and access to public lands and waters.

Through our work with the Roosevelt caucus, we worked especially hard to advance our legislative and regulatory advocacy goals. Here are some of this year’s highlights:

  • The Growing Climate Solutions Act just passed as part of the year-end Omnibus spending package. ConservAmerica helped usher this legislation through the Senate and over the finish line.

  • The introduction of H.R. 9027, The Ocean Restoration Research and Development Act of 2022. We worked with Congressman David McKinley (R-WV), Congressman Mike Doyle (D-PA), and Congressman Earl L. “Buddy” Carter (R-GA) to develop and introduce this bill.

  • The Good Samaritan Remediation of Abandoned Hardrock Mines Act. We continued gathering support and plan to make it a priority in the coming Congress.

  • The Recovering America’s Wildlife Act. This legislation was passed by the House in June, and while there is significant bipartisan support for the bill in the Senate, it did not make it into the end of the year package. It will be a priority for us going forward.

In addition to our legislative advocacy work, our team continued to advance ConservAmerica’s mission through public comment letters in response to agency rulemakings, op-eds, coalition building, amicus briefs, and the development of reports and a new webpage. It was a busy and productive year, and we are looking forward to what the new year, and new Congress will bring.

We thank you all for your support of the development and advancement of sound energy, environmental and conservation policy; we could not do this important work without you. We hope you all are enjoying this holiday season and we wish you a safe and happy New Year.
