Massive investments in renewables, support to citizens on energy bills, historic fundings of railways, protection of abortion rights, same-sex partnership laws, anti-corruption reforms: these are just some of the legislative changes the Green parties sitting in national governments across Europe made in 2022.

 

At the same time, we're witnessing an aggressive conservative backlash. Elections in Sweden and Italy showed that far-right, nationalist forces present a threat to all values we hold so dear.  

In 2022 German Greens grew on national and local level, Greens entered the governments of Montenegro and Bulgaria for the first time ever. Greens in Latvia, Denmark, or Scotland made historic wins. It's clear, Greens in Europe are stronger than ever to fight nationalist egoism, human rights violations and climate denialism.
