Congressional Republicans aren’t even trying to hide their corruption and collusion with the White House. During the House hearings, they stormed secure hearing rooms, tried to expose the name of the whistleblower, and complained at every turn that the process was unfair to the president after he refused to participate in it.
Now, the Senate, led by Mitch McConnell and Lindsey Graham, are touting their close coordination with Trump and desire to exonerate him before they’ve even received the articles of impeachment, let alone started the trial. They refuse to see new evidence, read the transcripts, or hear from new witnesses. What we’re about to see is a sham trial that will only serve to further erode our institutions and our democracy.
