In the weeks since the tragic shooting at Club Q in Colorado Springs, far-right politicians and talking heads have “doubled down” on their anti-LGBTQ+ talking points. [[link removed]]

Anti-LGBTQ+ bigots like Tucker Carlson, Ron DeSantis, and Marjorie Taylor Greene are trafficking in the oldest, ugliest lies about the LGBTQ+ community.

They are falsely claiming that LGBTQ+ Americans pose a danger to kids — which couldn’t be further from the truth.

Now, experts are saying that this kind of anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric encourages violence against LGBTQ+ people. [[link removed]]

“The way [Republicans] soften up the support…of violence is essentially by making it seem morally justified,” Alejandra Caraballo, Harvard Law Cyberlaw ClinicWe’ve seen this dynamic play out in the weeks following the Colorado shooting. Instead of repenting, Conservative politicians and influencers are upping the ante — claiming that LGBTQ+ Americans are “pedophiles” who are “grooming kids.”

Rhetoric like this is incredibly “dangerous and irresponsible” according to progressive watchdog Media Matters.
