Welcome to the first 2020 edition of FT Now! We hope everyone had a
wonderful holiday. Now, down to business! In North Carolina, Democrat
Roy Cooper was hit with a report this week exposing just how few
campaign promises he's kept during his three years in office.
California Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom is also facing not-so-great
reviews for his first year in office. And in Washington, officials spent
much of the last few days arguing over Speaker Nancy Pelosi's decision
to stall sending articles of impeachment to the Senate. While it looks
like the stalemate may be over soon, it's fair to say lawmakers are
fed up. Read below for more!

Forget About New Years Resolutions, Dem Gov Roy Cooper Can't Even Keep
His Campaign Promises

What Happened:

A new report exposes how North Carolina Democrat Governor Roy Cooper has
failed to deliver on the majority of campaign promises he made. In fact,
according to WRAL, "Cooper has succeeded in fulfilling only 7 of the 31
promises he made to North Carolinians."

Why You Should Care:

Gov. Cooper's poor record begs the question: Will he just say anything
to get elected?

What Happens Next:

Cooper is up for re-election this fall, so he'll have a lot of
explaining to do to voters between now and November.

California Democrat Gov. Gavin Newsom's "Uneven" First Year

What Happened:

The Los Angeles Times has taken a look at Democrat Governor Gavin
Newsom's first year in office and the results are...mixed.

Why You Should Care:

Newsom's governing style was described by some as "undisciplined" and
"impatient." Critics are also worried that "turbulence" from the
governor's office could inhibit any ability to fix the state's most
pressing crises - including the levels of homelessness throughout the
state.

What Happens Next:

Unfortunately, we're not that optimistic that Newsom or his far-left,
big-government agenda will change anytime soon.

Pelosi Announces Plans to Send Impeachment Articles To Senate

What Happened:

After refusing to transmit impeachment articles to the Senate, Speaker
Nancy Pelosi announced plans on Friday to do just that.

Why You Should Care:

Pelosi's ill-conceived strategy has had everyone scratching their head
for weeks. Wasn't impeachment a national emergency? Even fellow
Democrats were starting to publicly voice frustration with her. Looks
like she's finally caving.

What Happens Next:

Expect Pelosi to make it official sometime next week. After that, the
Senate begins its trial.
