| ConservAmerica submitted a letter on December 16 to Secretary of the Department of Interior Deb Haaland to call attention to the benefits of conservation programs like the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) that are funded with receipts from offshore oil and natural gas activities in federal waters. The LWCF has provided crucial funding for national and state parks, historical sites and battlefields, conservation areas, and community programs and parks since 1964. LWCF was established by Congress to fulfill a bipartisan commitment to safeguard natural areas, water resources and cultural heritage, and to provide recreation opportunities to all Americans. The fund invests earnings from offshore oil and gas leasing to strengthen communities, preserve history and protect the national endowment of lands and waters.
