The holidays are coming up. If
you’re able, enjoy the relaxation and time with loved ones. We just
pulled off an unprecedented victory and defeated a slate of ultra-MAGA
Republicans. In turn, we helped set our country on a more democratic
and prosperous path. It’s worth taking some time to
celebrate.
But remember, the fight to preserve
our country and our democracy continues. The ultra-MAGA right is not
stopping and they’re only getting worse. After a disastrous Election
Night, you’d think there’d be some conversation amongst party leaders
to moderate their image to align with the mainstream of our country.
But of course not. You know which factions of the GOP are taking up
all the air these days?
Neo-nazis.
White supremacists.
Election conspiracy
theorists.
A whole batch of them just gathered
together in New York to plot the future of the ultra-MAGA movement.
It was a real who’s who of dangerous
extremists. Multiple
recently-elected members of Congress attended along with Steve Bannon,
Pizzagate conspiracy theorist Jack Posobiec, Donald Trump Jr.,
ultra-nationalist European political leaders, and more racist MAGA
journalists and political operatives.
A few messages came from the
evening. First, Marjorie Taylor Greene promised the cheering crowd
that she would have organized a successful and armed January 6th
Insurrection. Yep, they went from offering dodgy apologies, to denying
the Capitol insurrection, to now wishing they did a better job of
murdering police officers and overturning our democracy.
Second, the
attendees are now bracing themselves for “total war.”
We can’t have any illusions here.
The fight to save the soul of our country requires a year-round
commitment. The ultra-MAGA right is not resting. They’re looking to
seize on any dose of political apathy to drive Trump or whatever other
stooge runs in his place into the White House.
We saw it at last weekend’s
gathering. We’ll see it during the clown show that will be the next
House of Representatives. And we’ll see it yet again when the next
election cycle begins to ramp up. It might seem far away now, but we
can’t sit there November 5, 2024, and wonder if we should’ve done
more.
They won’t stop. But neither will
we. After
two election cycles, you know that we are the most effective
pro-democracy movement in this country. We’re in it for however long
it takes to win. 365 days a year. Help support that mission
today.
