John,

Yesterday was a good day for families across the country because President Biden signed the Respect for Marriage Act into law!

In the wake of the Dobbs decision, which overturned Roe v. Wade, it has become all too clear that rights previously affirmed by the Supreme Court may be under threat – among them same-sex marriage and interracial marriage.

To address this threat, I proudly voted for the Respect for Marriage Act to protect same-sex and interracial marriages under federal law. President Biden signed the bill yesterday, and now couples and families across our country have the peace of mind of knowing that their marriages are protected and respected under federal law.

Thank you to the tireless advocates who have helped make this day possible.

Abigail
