Before 2022 ends and we enter 2023, I wanted to reach out and thank you for your incredible support and commitment to help me return to Congress. My campaign team and I worked from January to November on this year’s re-election. It was a long, hard year, but also very gratifying because of the response from 4th District voters!
- In May, with the strong support of friends and party activists, I secured a first ballot DFL endorsement with 64%!
- Despite having $800,000 spent against me by my DFL opponent, I won the DFL Primary Election in August with 86% of the vote!
- Finally, I won in November with over 200,000 votes and 67% of the vote!
Team Betty knocked on thousands of doors across the 4th District over and over again. And, it paid off by helping secure big victories in legislative seats and in local elections for DFLers! We had great candidates! We also did our job and turned out the vote to re-elect Gov. Walz, Lt. Gov. Flanagan, Attorney General Ellison, Secretary of State Simon, and Auditor Blaha!!!
My campaign invested and supported dozens of U.S House colleagues and candidates. The RED WAVE predicted in the polls never materialized and my Democratic colleagues won dozens of tough races – including my dear friend Rep. Angie Craig right here in Minnesota.
Looking forward, I am going back to Congress in 2023 filled with energy. We must defend our democracy against the incoming Republican House majority, and I will stand with President Biden to defend our Democratic accomplishments, along with the issues we value – women’s reproductive health, climate change, good jobs, quality public schools, and healthcare for all!
