After Bernie Sanders’ 2016 presidential campaign, a few staffers decided to continue the work to fight to elect progressives by launching Justice Democrats. For a team with a small budget, we’ve had quite an impact in the last few years.

We recruited AOC, Cori Bush, and Jamaal Bowman to run and helped their campaigns win in competitive primary elections against entrenched incumbents. And now, this cycle we’ve helped Greg Casar and Summer Lee win.

But here’s the unfortunate news: we’re facing an unprecedented slowdown in our fundraising. And as a grassroots-supported organization, our fundraising makes a big impact on the support we’re able to offer our candidates.

If we don’t turn this around before the end of the year, we’re going to have to start looking at where to make budget cuts.
