Hi there — I have some incredible news to share with you:

Last week, the Senate passed the Respect for Marriage Act, historic legislation to protect same-sex marriages nationwide. This is a historic win in our fight for progress, and it couldn’t have happened at a more urgent time.

In the wake of the right-wing Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade over the summer, Justice Clarence Thomas wrote in his concurring opinion that other landmark decisions — including Obergefell v. Hodges, which secured the right to marriage equality — should be reconsidered.

This disturbing news was an urgent call to action, one that the Respect for Marriage Act will answer.

Now the bill will head back to the House for a final vote, and it’s important that we get this across the finish line quickly before Republicans reclaim the majority in the new year.

All Americans should feel free to live their lives without fear of discrimination. If you agree, will you sign your name next to mine on my petition calling on the House to pass the Respect for Marriage Act and finally protect the right to marry who you love by federal law?

Thanks for standing with me in uplifting LGBTQ rights. When we raise our voices together, we can accomplish anything.
