That’s how many contributions we need to reach before the end of the month when we’ll close our books and submit our fundraising numbers to the public.
How did we get 5,974? Based on our average gift for the year ($15.90) and how much we’ve raised so far, we need to hit 8,000 contributions this month to match what we raised last month.
Here’s where we are so far:
5,974 is an important number to us because each donation – no matter the amount – shows that our values, from Medicare for All to the Green New Deal, have strong support in Pennsylvania and across the country.
This goal is particularly important. On December 31, our numbers will be submitted to the FEC. Once they are made public, they will be examined by our opponents to determine the strength of this movement.
Normally numbers tend to drop off after an election. We can’t let that happen. The work we have to do is too great to only organize around elections.
Alexandria is one of the most heavily targeted members of Congress, whether it’s an election year or not. We know that next year will be no different, so it’s important that we raise resources early and demonstrate the strength of our campaign now.
Reaching 8,000 contributions and submitting a strong FEC report would demonstrate how much grassroots support Alexandria has beside her.
